This is bigger than a swim
At the Coolangatta Beachfront, as hundreds of swimmers waded into the Pacific, there was a shared understanding that the ocean was the easy part.
The harder thing – the thing that brought the Klim Foundation to the Cooly Classic as the official charity partner of the Every Stroke Counts event – is the daily reality facing people living with CIDP.
What Is the Cooly Classic?
The Cooly Classic is part of the World Series Swims circuit – one of Australia’s most respected open water swimming events. Held at Coolangatta on the Gold Coast, it draws swimmers of every level, from competitive athletes to first-timers doing it for a cause.
This year, the Klim Foundation was named official charity partner of the World Series Swims. Every stroke swum in the name of CIDP awareness. Every fundraising dollar raised going directly to our work.
The Why Open Water Swimming Matters to Us
Water has always been part of Michael Klim’s story. An Olympic champion, a world record holder, a man who built a career on what the human body could do in water.
CIDP changed what that body could do. But it didn’t change the belief that movement matters. That community matters. That showing up – in the water, on the sideline, in the stands – matters.
The Cooly Classic brought that belief to life on a grand scale.
How to Get Involved
Each swim event will provide an opportunity for you, a team, a company to register a fundraising page to raise donations for the Klim Foundation. Proceeds from the events will support the Klim Foundation’s work – funding research, building support services for patients and carers, and raising awareness of CIDP across Australia.
